Yoga for Beginners requires you to be receptive to the little changes that happen and over time you will enjoy the wonderful benefits.
What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient system of movement that teaches meditation through cultivating awareness of the body and breath.
Beginning with simple postures and mindful breathing, the mind gradually settles, guiding you toward greater awareness and calm. As a beginner, it’s important to remember that yoga is a journey — there’s no expectation to do any of the movements perfectly from day one.
Yoga also supports core stability, flexibility, and strength. Each posture is taught with options, allowing you to move safely and gradually while improving alignment and body awareness over time.
Is this suitable if I’m a complete beginner?
Begin Yoga is designed specifically for complete beginners, guiding you step by step through seven easy-to-follow classes that introduce the foundations of yoga.
The Balance & Breathe class is also beginner-friendly, but it is not only for beginners. It is a gentle, supportive class where people with different levels of experience can practise together, with options offered throughout.
Why begin with a course or beginner-friendly class?
Whether you choose the online course or an in-person class, you’ll learn techniques that support you to move with greater awareness and confidence.
You’ll develop an understanding of how to adapt movements to suit your own body, helping you build a practice that feels safe, sustainable, and enjoyable.
This foundation can support you whether you choose to continue practising at home through the On-Demand Video Library, or join a regular small-group class.
How big are the in-person classes?
Class sizes are kept small, with a maximum of eight students in the studio and fourteen at outdoor sessions.
This allows me to offer individual guidance when it’s helpful, while also respecting your space if you prefer a more independent practice.
Do I need to be flexible?
No. You do not need to be flexible to begin yoga.
While yoga can help improve flexibility over time, the goal is not to force your body into a particular shape. The most important thing is learning to move in a way that feels safe and supportive for you.
Often, less stretch is more. Yoga is about awareness, not pushing yourself further than your body is ready for.
What if I have questions?
Although both options are designed to support you as you learn, questions are always welcome.
If something feels unclear, you can get in touch and I’ll help guide you in the right direction. Whether you need clarification about a movement, advice about where to start, or help choosing the option that suits you best, I’m happy to assist.
