Vinyasa Yoga, spiritual yet secular.
About Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa is a style of yoga characterized by stringing postures together so that you move from one to another, seamlessly, using breath. Translated from Sanskrit, the ancient language of India, vinyasa means ‘sequence’. Vinyasa Yoga was coined in the Ashtanga Vinyasa system of movement. Here the postures are woven together like a delicate tapestry creating a movement system that increases body awareness and insights deep meditation.
Vinyasa yoga is a more recent approach to yoga and is a combination of the many styles of yoga, it allows for the adaption of yoga to the modern body. Classes at Megaglow Yoga are based on both the original Ashtanga system and on its modern variations.
Vinyasa Yoga enhances physical, mental and emotional wellbeing through yogic techniques combining pranayama (breath extension and retention), bandha (physical and energetic locks), mudra (symbolic gestures) and asana (posture).
