Meet Your Kwinana Yoga Teacher, Meg Summers
Megan Summers has maintained a daily yoga practice since 1997 and began teaching in 2001. Over the years she has taught throughout Perth, Western Australia.
While Megan explored many styles in her early years, it was Ashtanga Yoga that became the foundation of her practice. In 2001 she commenced a three-year apprenticeship with 8limbs Ashtanga Yoga under world-renowned teachers Dr Monica Gauci and Gregor Maehle. On completion in 2004, she received Certification with Excellent Performances in the Intermediate Series, Teaching the Primary Series, Hands-On Adjusting, Anatomy and Physiology, and Yogic Philosophy. She continued a dedicated Ashtanga practice for 12 years and taught the method for 10 years.
As her own body and life evolved, so too did her approach to yoga. Meg now leans into a more therapeutic and adaptable style—one that honours the needs of the modern body and encourages an individual, mindful approach to practice.
In recent years, she completed a second teacher training with Yoga Synergy under Physiotherapists Simon Borg-Oliver and Bianca Machliss, graduating with distinction. This training deepened her understanding of traditional yoga and how to apply it safely and intelligently for contemporary practitioners, with studies across asana and biomechanics, applied anatomy and physiology, yoga history and philosophy, teaching methodology, and developing pranayama and meditation practices.
Meg is also currently deepening her studies in Yogic Meditation and Pranayama with her first teachers, continuing a lifelong commitment to learning, curiosity, and compassionate practice.
Kwinana Yoga Teacher classes for all ages and abilities
Meg still likes to teach a challenging yoga posture or two but balances this with the simple and non-intrusive Kwinana Yoga Teacher classes.
Meg is an encouraging instructor that will help you to develop a unique understanding of your body and a personal yoga practice, either at a live, in person class or online.
